The Appeals Service DFC Coffee Morning

A Sweet Treat For a Good Cause

My name is Colleen, and I have worked in The Appeals Service for 5 years. I had never heard of a wellbeing champion or heard of any of the amazing WELL events that the wellbeing team organise until the start of this year. When I elected myself as wellbeing champion my overall goal was to bring the office together by organising different events to boost morale and hopefully improve our staff wellbeing. That’s where the idea of my charity coffee morning came to light.

I had been emailing back and forth with the charity “friends of the cancer centre” and I queried the idea of hosting a coffee morning to raise money for the charity. The charity generously sent me balloons, banners, a money box, stress balls, leaflets and handouts to host the coffee morning. My office is mostly office based with little staff working from home which meant I could go round the office and ask our avid bakers to bake some yummy treats.  All the staff came together to help me out with organising this and we ended up raising around £250 for our charity. It was an all round success and all the staff enjoyed the morning! I hope to organise another event like this in the near future.
