Stephen thanks WELL

Hi I’m Stephen, and I’m a WELL Champion.

When the WELL Roadshow was confirmed I was busy rallying my own colleague to attend.

As I saw it as a free MOT test for everyone. Personally I though my health was good as felt good but not the best it could be. Was I in for a shock!

So I will get straight to the heart of it – quite literally

My blood pressure I thought was normal I had no concerns- well MODERARATE HYPERTENSION

  • SYSTOLIC 162
  • DIASTLOLIC  108
  • HR 83

Not to scare everyone the nurse turned to me and said I had to go to my doctors straight away as my blood pressure was dangerously high.

Which I did, and over the next month I tried to bring my blood pressure down by more exercise, cutting out sugar and caffeine. I successful in bringing it down 140/102. I also bought my own blood pressure machine and my doctor made me wear a heart monitor machine for 24hr period. From the recordings my blood pressure did drop when I was not in work but it was still over the average. My doctor suggested blood pressure tablets- I did my own research into the blood pressure tablets and found that heart/chest/ stroke organisation highly recommend then as they indicated that over 30,000 live could be saved a year if every person over 40 was taking them- as it’s the silent killer (I did not know I thought I was healthy). The only downside is once you go on tablets you have to keep taking them for life. But I’d rather pop a pill than pop my heart. So I am so  grateful for the WELL roadshow for giving me a free MOT test which I failed but now I have passed 120/84  yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Also, several of my colleague where in for a shock as well and they too have taken action.

So I would highly recommend the WELL Roadshow for it may just save your life!
