International Volunteer Day 2024

International Volunteers Day - Thursday 5th December 2024

5^th December: International Volunteer Day (IVD) was designated by the United Nations in 1985 as an international observance day to celebrate the power and potential of volunteerism. It is an opportunity for volunteers, and volunteer organisations, to raise awareness of, and gain understanding for, the contribution they make to their communities.

The benefits of volunteering are wide and varied. It can help:

1. Improve confidence
2. Encourage socialising and prevent loneliness and isolation
3. Provide opportunities to have fun and learn new skills
4. Improve physical and mental health
